 Jesse Jackson interview -- Rey || Post in the forum
Recently I sat down with Jesse Jackson head of the Rainbow Coalition. We talked about life and how hard it is growing up black among other things. Here are some highlights of our conversation.
Rey:Hello good reverend, how are you today
JJ:I'm blessed
Rey: Thats good to hear, so what are your views on racial profiling?
JJ: Black people have been subject to racial profiling for years. We need to look past racial profiling and start concentrating on racial profiling. if the white people won't racially profile I won't be able to buy myself a new benz
Rey: What?
JJ: Umm uh.. Racial profiling is bad!!
Rey: Didn't you just say it was good
JJ: are you accusing ME of supporting racism against my people!
Rey: No, I was merely qouting what y-
JJ: Racial profiling is bad, no two ways about it. it ain't good it never was good and ain't never gonna be good.
Rey: Ok, so everyone should stop racial profiling
JJ: NO, that's not what I said, puttin words in my mouth, I don't like when people put words in my mouth!!
Rey:Umm but wouldn't stopping racial profiling be good
JJ: Yes
Rey: So whats the problem
JJ: Whats the what?
Rey: I thought you sai-
JJ: It doesn't matter what I said, it matters that we know that racism still exists and that IT IS BAD
Rey: then why shouldn't we end racial profiling?
JJ: Because I need to get a new paint job for my house.
Rey: What?!
JJ: I mean, it shouldn't be eliminated but used in a more mature manner.
Rey:oh, ok so how do you feel about that situation in florida
JJ: Racial profiling!
Rey:I was talking about that cat stuck in the tree during the flooding.
JJ: Was the cat black
Rey:No it was a persian
JJ:Racial profiling! they would never do that for a black cat!
Rey:Ok an-
JJ:I am tired of you right now, I'll get back to you in 20 minutes.
Rey: But I....
