WinBackup

Product Website: LIUtilities
Price: Boxed version - 49.95(USD)
Downloadable version - 29.95(USD)

Background:

As we rely more and more on computers to hold data which we are so dependant on, things can and will go wrong down the road while using this data that we love so much. When that does happen, you'll probably wish that you have some nice backup of all that data, and if you didn't have a backup... well... time to test out your own memory and start from scratch. With WinBackup, the risk of human error, a software glitch, or even a hardware failure is no longer a problem because you have another copy of your data safe and sound on the same drive, different drive on the same computer, or even on another computer all together depending on your needs and how you set the program up.

Information:

WinBackup does exactly what it says it does - it backs up data on a Windows machine in a nice compressed *.wbb file which acts similar to a zip archive.

Unlike most simple backup programs which will let you schedule a backup and select a remote location to copy it to, WinBackup comes with some rather useful tools that will make it easy for the end user to setup a backup job, as well as restore that *.wbb file in case something does go wrong to make you use the backup.

For example, say that you have a directory called "Web Files" like I do on my computer. This directory houses most, if not all data to multiple websites that you host/own and if that data were to simply no longer exist, it may cause problems for you. With WinBackup, you can simply setup a backup job to copy that "Web Files" directory to another computer where it will be safe from any hardware failures before any problems start. No longer will you have to worry about your hard drive one day failing and you're stuck with a void of lost data, WinBackup can insure that you will always have your valuable data providing that you backup your data to a floppy disk, blank CD, or a remote computer.

Overall:

WinBackup is a very straight forward program. It does what you want and need it to do if you have important data that you wish to backup every X days. LIUtilities hit the nail on the head this time by including a wizard for you to select if you're not so clear as how to setup a backup job to meet your needs. This is one of those programs that are so simple and easy to use that you do not have to read the manual, you can put it in your CD ROM and it will pretty much do all the rest for you with little interaction.
