Below is a list of rules you should abide by when posting on The Geek Forums. Not abiding by these rules may result in bannation, and a brutal canning by Arnold the Ape. The last person who didn't obey the rules was taken to a hospital for deep lacerations and semi-internal bleeding (If you know what I mean). ![]() The Rules 1. Do not come to the forums looking for a place to advertise your stupid product that will make people's penis sizes increase by 300%, or how you're new to the internet and need people to write for your blogosphere website. We don't want your shit, and we don't want to help you build your stupid little website. 2. Posting obscene or pornographic images on the forums is not allowed. Keep in mind that many members come to the forums while at work or other social places that do not permit them to look at tasteless or pornographic material. Keep potentially "Not Safe For Work" (NSFW) material within the NSFW forum. 3. RULE 4! 4. This is not a forum dedicated to hacking or technical support to help you troubleshoot your computer problems because your son downloaded too much porn. Don't sign up thinking that you can post your compuiter related problems and you'll receive help without giving back to the community first. Most of us have lives. 5. tAlKiNg LiKe ThIs WiLl GeT yOu BaNnEd!!!11 Do not post a message containing text in a similar manner, or a message loaded with, "lol"s or any other overly used acronym. Doing so demonstrates that not only are you a moron, but you're probably only about 13-years-old.
6. Refrain from posting one word, or short replies with no value. An example of this would be when you answer with, "I don't have a computer." when someone poses a question asking, "How do I increase my page file size?" Such an answer carries no real value to the topic at hand. Again, this makes you look like a moron. 7. Do not hot link to an image hosted on another domain unless you own the domain, or have permission to do so. Hot linking to an image on someone else's site is annoying. Especially when the other guy finds out about it, changes the image to gay porn, and months later you find your post about pretty flowers littered with gay porn. We have an attachment component for this reason. Use it. 8. Threads that have gone for over a month without any replies are considered to be "dead". It's typically not a good idea to bring these threads back from the dead unless you have something meaningful to add to the discussion. |
