An employee of Comcast had just been fired. For reasons unknown instead of him just sucking it up he decided to be an ass and take his anger out on the customers. That day, over 32 people in our peaceful city lost their cable. I can tell you that for them it was a horrible expierience. I know this because I too was cut off from the interweb for almost 56 hours. For years I have depended on the interweb in order to maintain my sanity. I had grown accustomed too its existence. I had felt that it would always be there for me when ever I needed too escape from reality. Frankly, I had taken it for granted. The time was 2:40PM. I had just got out of school and was looking forward to playing Diablo 2:LoD and getting my character to level 80. I arrived at home and turned on my box. Ten seconds later I was logged in and clicked the D2:LoD icon on my desktop. Five seconds later my dreams of level 80 were shattered with the following message: "Unable to resolve connection to battle.net. If you are using a modem, please connect to your ISP and try again. Vist support.battle.net/errormessages/ for more information on this message." I didn't know what to do. I checked my ethernet cable to see if it was connected. It was. I checked my router to see if it was on. It was. Finally I checked my cable modem. Too my horror the incoming signal light was a steady orange. Those basstards cut my cable. I thought to myself, "This isn't a big deal... I can make it through this... I'll just play single player Diablo 2...". Unfortanately I was wrong, I couldn't make it through. And the rest of that night I had to read. *sob* All because of that damn disgruntled cable guy... </rant> |
